Removal (Tacoma, Tundra 3.4L & 4Runner)

  1. Remove air cleaner hose from air cleaner to the throttle body. Disconnect electrical connector at ignition coil mounted on top of valve cover.
  2. To disconnect spark plug wire at ignition coil, use screwdriver to lift upward on lock claw (if equipped). See Figure. Disconnect holder from ignition coil.
  3. Pull upward on grommet to disconnect spark plug wire from ignition coil. See Figure. DO NOT pull on spark plug wire. Remove bolt and ignition coil.
