  2. Fuel tank must be removed for servicing of fuel pump. Raise and support vehicle. Remove necessary covers for access to fuel tank. Drain gasoline from fuel tank into approved container.
  3. Disconnect fuel filler tube and any remaining hoses for fuel tank removal. Support fuel tank with transmission jack. Remove bolts and fuel tank straps. Slightly lower fuel tank for access to fuel supply line and fuel return line at the fuel pump. Electric fuel pump is located in the fuel tank.
  4. Disconnect electrical connector from top of fuel pump. This is electrical connector for fuel pump and fuel gauge sending unit. Disconnect electrical connector at vapor pressure sensor. See Figure.
  5. Ensure area around fuel supply line and fuel return line on top of fuel pump is clean. Disconnect fuel supply line and fuel return line from top of fuel pump. It may be necessary to slightly rotate disconnect fitting and fuel supply line during removal to free fuel line from fitting on fuel pump. DO NOT bend nylon fuel supply line during removal.
  6. Remove fuel tank. Remove fuel pump mounting bracket-to-fuel tank bolts. Remove fuel pump assembly and gasket from fuel tank. Use care not to damage fuel filter on bottom of fuel pump and fuel gauge sending unit when removing fuel pump.
