Removal & Installation (Tacoma, Tundra 3.4L & 4Runner)

- Note location of Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR LOCATION table.
- Drain cooling system. Remove upper radiator hose. Remove necessary components for removal of upper timing belt cover. Remove upper timing belt cover and gasket.
- Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE under FUEL SYSTEMS. Remove fuel crossover pipe union bolts, fuel crossover pipe and gaskets from front (timing belt) end of fuel rails. See Figure.
- Disconnect electrical connector at ECT sensor. Remove ECT sensor and gasket. To install, reverse removal procedure using NEW gaskets on ECT sensor and fuel pipe. Tighten ECT sensor, fuel crossover pipe union bolts and upper timing belt cover bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Fill cooling system.
