Power Steering Vane Pump Installation

  1. Install ps vane pump assembly  .

    Install the PS vane pump assembly, temporarily tighten the bolt "A" and nut "B".

  2. Install drive belt  .
    1. Tightening the bolt "C", adjust drive belt tension. See INSPECTING DRIVE BELT .

    2. Torque the bolt "A" and nut "B".

      Torque: 44 N.m (450 kgf.cm, 33 ft.lbf) 

  3. Connect pressure feed tube  .
    1. Connect the pressure feed tube.
      2. NOTE: Make sure the stopper of the pressure feed tube is touches the PS vane pump body as shown in Fig 2, then torque the union bolt.

    2. Install a new gasket and the union bolt to the pressure feed tube.

      Torque: 46.5 N.m (475 kgf.cm, 34 ft.lbf)  .

  4. Install oil pressure switch  .
    1. Install the oil pressure switch to the pressure feed tube.

      Torque: 20.6 N.m (210 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

      2. NOTE: Be careful of a spot like oil on the switch.
    2. Connect the connector.
  5. Connect the return hose with the clip  .
  6. Install air cleaner assembly  .
    1. Install the air cleaner assembly with hose and the 3 bolts.
    2. Install the clamp.
    3. Connect the hose.
    4. Connect the MAF meter connector.
  7. Bleed the power steering system. See BLEEDING POWER STEERING FLUID .
