Power Steering Vane Pump (2UZ-FE): Reassembly

CAUTION: When using a vise, do not overtighten it.

Coat parts indicated by arrows with power steering fluid . See Figure.
Install vane pump shaft with vane pump pulley .
Using a plastic hammer, tap in 2 new straight pins to the front housing.
CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the pins.
Install the cam ring with the inscribed mark facing outward.

NOTE: Align the holes of the cam ring with the straight pins.
Install vane pump rotor .
1. Install the vane pump rotor with the inscribed mark facing outward.
2. Install a new snap ring to the vane pump shaft.
Install vane plates and gasket .
1. Install the 10 plates with the round end facing outward.

2. Install a new gasket on the front housing.
  NOTE: Be careful of the direction of the gasket.
Install side plate .
Align the holes of the plate and 2 straight pins.
Install wave washer .
Install the washer so that its protrusions fit into the slots in the side plate.

Install rear housing .
1. Coat 2 new "O" rings with power steering fluid and install them to the rear housing.
2. Install the rear housing with the 4 bolts.
  Torque: 24 N.m (240 kgf.cm, 17 ft.lbf)
Install spring, flow control valve and pressure port union .
1. Install the spring to the front housing.
2. Install the flow control valve facing the correct direction. See Figure.
Install suction port union .
1. Coat a new "O" ring with power steering fluid and install it to the suction port union.
2. Install the suction port union with the bolt.
  Torque: 13 N.m (130 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)
Measure PS vane pump rotating torque . See step 1 under DISASSEMBLY.
