Inspection Procedure

- Check ECU-IG Fuse.
Preparation : Remove ECU-IG fuse from the instrument panel J/B. See Fig 1.
Check : Check continuity of ECU-IG fuse.
OK : Continuity.
- NG : Check for short circuit in all the harness and components connected to ECU-IG fuse. See Fig 1.
- OK : Go to next step.
- Check Battery Position Voltage.
OK : Voltage: 10-14 V.
- NG : Check and repair the charging system.
- OK : Go to step 3.
- Check Voltage Of The ECU IG Power Source.
In case of using the TOYOTA hand-held tester:
Preparation :
- Connect the TOYOTA hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and push the TOYOTA hand-held tester main switch ON.
- Select the DATALIST mode on the TOYOTA hand-held tester.
Check : Check the voltage condition output from the ECU displayed on the TOYOTA hand-held tester.
OK : "Normal" is displayed.
In case of using the TOYOTA hand-held tester:
Preparation: Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
Check:
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Measure voltage between terminals IG (44) and GND (15, 46) of skid control ECU harness side connector. See Fig 2.
OK : Voltage: 10-14 V.
- OK : Check and replace skid control ECU.
- NG : Go to next step.
NOTE: When replacing the ECU, perform the zero point calibration. See step 6 under PRE-CHECK. - Check Continuity Between Terminal GND Of Skid Control ECU Connector And Body Ground.
Check : Measure resistance between terminal GND (15, 46) of skid control ECU harness side connector and body ground. See Fig 2.
OK : Resistance: One ohm or less
- NG Repair or replace harness or connector.
- OK: Check for open circuit in harness and connector between skid control ECU and battery. See HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE .
