Rear A/C Evaporator: Removal

    NOTE:

    At the time of installation, please refer to the following item. Evacuate air from refrigeration system.

    Charge system with refrigerant and inspect the leakage of refrigerant.

    Specified amount: 

    Dual A/C: 1050 +/- 50 g (37.03 +/- 1.76 oz.) 

  1. Discharge refrigerant from refrigeration system  .
  2. NOTE: It is not necessary to drain out all coolant.
  3. Drain engine coolant from radiator  .
  4. Remove rear seat outer belt floor anchors  .
  5. Remove backdoor scuff plate  .
  6. Remove rear door scuff plate right side  .
  7. Remove upper back door garnish  .
  8. Remove rear window side garnish right side  .
  9. Remove rear quarter trim panel right side  .
  10. Remove quarter pillar garnish right side  .
  11. CAUTION: At the time of installation, please refer to the following item. Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install them to the tubes.
    Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dir out of the system.

  12. Disconnect liquid and suction tubes  .

    Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the both tubes. See Fig 1.

    Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in..lbf) 

  13. Remove rear A/C unit  :
    1. Remove the 3 clips and cover. See Figure.
    2. Remove the 2 air ducts.
    3. Disconnect the connectors and wire harness clamps.
  14. Remove expansion valve  :
    1. Remove the 4 screws and 2 brackets. See Fig 2.
    2. NOTE:

      At the time of installation, please refer to the following item. Do not refuse the packing.

    3. Pry out the packings.
    4. Using a hexagon wrench (5.0 mm, 0.20 in.), remove the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in..lbf)

    5. Remove the 3 bolts. See Figure.
    6. Lift the A/C unit until the tube and accessary is removed.
    7. Remove the tube and accessary.
    8. Remove the holder and disconnect the heat sensing tube.
    9. CAUTION: At the time of installation, please refer to the following item. Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install them to the expansion valve.
    10. Loose the 2 nuts and remove the expansion valve. See Figure.

      Torque: 

      Nut A: 13 N.m (135 kgf.cm, 10 in..lbf) 

      Nut B: 22 N.m (235 kgf.cm, 16 in..lbf)
