POWER TRANSISTOR (for Rear A/C): Inspection

- Remove rear seat outer belt floor anchors .
- Remove back door scuff plate .
- Remove rear door scuff plate right side .
- Remove rear window side garnish .
- Remove rear quarter trim panel right side .
- Remove rear power transistor
:
- Disconnect the connector. See Fig 1.
- Remove the 2 screws and rear power transistor.
- Inspect power transistor operation
:
- Connect the positive (+) lead to terminal 1 through a 12 V - 3.4 W test bulb and negative (-) lead to terminal 4. See Fig 2.
- Check the test bulb lights up when another positive (+) lead is connected to terminal 2 through a 12V - 3.4 W test bulb.
If operation is not as specified, replace the power transistor.
- Inspect power transistor resistance
.
Measure resistance between terminals 3 and 4.
Standard resistance: 2.0 - 2.4 kΩ .
If resistance is not as specified, replace the power transistor.
- Install rear power transistor .
- Install rear quarter trim panel right side .
- Install rear window side garnish .
- Install rear door scuff plate right side .
- Install back door scuff plate .
- Install rear seat outer belt floor anchors .
