Electric Cooling Fan

  1. Start engine. Raise coolant temperature to greater than 208°F (98°C). Ensure fan operates. If fan does not operate, replace No. 1 ECT switch.
  2. Disconnect cooling fan connector. Connect battery and ammeter to cooling fan connector. See Fig 1. Cooling fan should operate smoothly. Check ammeter reading while cooling fan is in operation. Amperage draw should be 8.5-11.5 amps at 68°F (20°C). Replace cooling fan if operation or amperage draw is not as specified. Reconnect cooling fan connector.
