Removal & Installation: Sienna: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Remove front wheels.
  3. Remove cotter pin and lock nut cap.
  4. Apply brake, and remove hub nut from wheel bearing.
  5. Drain transaxle fluid into proper container.
  6. Remove bolt and ABS speed sensor.
  7. Remove cotter pin and nut from tie rod end. See Figure.
  8. Disconnect tie rod end from steering knuckle.
  9. Disconnect lower ball joint from lower control arm.
  10. Remove bolts, and disconnect steering knuckle from lower control arm.
  11. Using a plastic hammer, tap axle shaft out of bearing hub.
  12. Push front axle hub toward outside of vehicle to separate axle shaft from axle hub.
  13. Remove left axle shaft using brass drift and hammer. Remove snap ring from inboard joint shaft.
  14. Remove bearing lock bolt from bearing bracket from right axle shaft and remove right axle shaft. Using pliers, remove snap ring, and remove axle shaft.
