Removal & Installation: Sienna: Disassembly

  1. Remove CV joint boot clamps, and slide boots away from joint.
  2. Paint alignment marks on CV joint housings, tripod (if applicable) and shaft(s) for reassembly reference. DO NOT use punch to make mating marks. See Fig 1.
  3. Using a snap ring expander, pull out outboard joint shaft while expanding snap ring.
  4. Remove inboard and outboard joint boots
  5. On left axle, using screwdriver and hammer, remove dust cover from inboard joint shaft.
  6. On right axle, press off transaxle side dust cover and bearing side dust cover, using care not to damage Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) speed sensor rotor.
  7. Remove snap ring, and press off bearing. Remove snap ring.
  8. Mount outboard joint shaft in a soft jaw vise. Using a screwdriver and hammer, remove No. 2 dust deflector, using care to not damage dust deflector.
