Removal & Installation: AVALON: Installation

  1. Measure drive shaft standard length. See Figure and See AXLE SHAFT LENGTH SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  2. To install, reverse removal procedure. Coat gear oil to inboard joint shaft and differential case sliding surface. Before installing axle shaft, set snap ring opening side facing downward. Check if inboard joint shaft is making contact with pinion shaft can be felt from sound and feeling when driving vehicle. Install axle shafts into wheel hub. Align suspension marks made at removal, and tighten nuts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. After installation, check that there is 0.08-.12 in. (2.0-3.0 mm) of play in axial direction and that axle shaft can not be removed by hand.
