Parking Brake Shoes: Installation

  1. Install parking brake shoe lever with new "C" clip.
  2. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Apply high temperature grease to adjuster and shoe contact points. See Figure.
  3. Install shoe strut with spring facing forward.
  4. Tighten all fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Adjust parking brake shoe clearance. See PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  6. Install rear wheel and tighten lug nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Check and adjust parking brake lever travel. See PARKING BRAKE LEVER  under ADJUSTMENTS.
