Vacuum Brake Booster: Removal

  1. Remove air cleaner cover assembly. Drain brake fluid. Remove master cylinder. See MASTER CYLINDER . See Fig 1. Remove left front door scuff plate. See Figure.
  2. Remove bolt and separate vacuum line from body. Slide clip and disconnect vacuum hose from brake booster. Remove instrument panel upper sub-assembly. Remove lower left instrument panel insert sub-assembly. Remove brake pedal return spring. Remove clip and push rod pin.
  3. Loosen lock nut and remove push rod clevis. Use Special Tool (09023-00100) and remove front brake tube No. 5. Remove nuts and pull out brake booster assembly. Remove vacuum brake booster gasket.
