Circuit Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus GX 470. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Crankshaft position sensor (NE signal) consists of a magnet, iron core and pickup coil. NE signal plate (crankshaft position sensor plate No. 1) has 34 teeth and is installed on crankshaft. NE signal sensor generates 34 signals at every engine revolution. ECM detects crankshaft angle and engine speed based on NE signals, and cylinder detection based on a combination of G2 and NE signals. DTC P0335 is set if no sensor signal is received by ECM during cranking or no sensor signal is received by ECM with engine speed of 600 RPM or more (2 trip detection logic). DTC P0339 is set when engine revolution is 1000 RPM or more, STA signal is off, 3 seconds or more has elapsed after STA signal is switched from on to off, and no crankshaft position signal is detected by ECM during cranking (2 trip detection logic).
