Diagnostic Aids

  1. Bank 1 refers to bank that includes cylinder 1. Bank 2 refers to bank that does not include cylinder 1.
  2. Sensor 1 refers to sensor closest to engine body. Sensor 2 refers to sensor farthest away from engine body.
  3. If different DTCs that are related to different systems are output simultaneously while ECM terminal E2 is used as a ground terminal, ECM terminal E2 may be open.
  4. Read freeze frame data using hand-held tester or OBD-II scan tool, as freeze frame data records engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, this is useful for determining whether vehicle was running or stopped, engine was warmed up or not, or air-fuel ratio was lean or rich at time of malfunction.
