Description & Operation
All doors can be locked or unlocked simultaneously from either front door. To lock, turn key forward and to unlock, turn key backward. Turning driver or passenger door key lock switch forward locks all doors. Turning driver door key lock switch backward one time will unlock driver door only, and turning it twice will unlock all doors. Turning front passenger door key lock switch backward one time will unlock all doors. Turning front passenger door key lock switch twice has no function. Door locks can be controlled by switches on driver or front passenger doors within vehicle, or by operating each door lock with key or lock knob. Front doors cannot be manually locked when key is in ignition switch.
Power door lock system is part of the multiplex communication network. The body control electronic control unit (ECU) is primary unit responsible for overseeing the operation of power door lock system.
Power door lock system consists of body control ECU, door lock assemblies, driver courtesy light switch and key unlock warning switch. See Figure. The front door lock assemblies incorporate door lock motor, door unlock detection switch and door key lock and unlock switch. The rear door lock and luggage compartment (trunk) lock assemblies incorporate lock motor and unlock detection switch.
