Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lexus LX 470. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Insert the already registered master key in the key cylinder. Using an oscilloscope or LEXUS hand-held tester, check that noise is included in the signals sent to connector E10 terminal No. 14 (CODE) of the ECM. See Fig 1. If no noise is detected, go to the next step. If noise is detected, try to find the cause of the noise and remove it.
  2. Check if the immobilizer system operates normally after replacement of the transponder key amplifier. If the system operates normally, replace the transponder key amplifier. See TRANSPONDER KEY COIL & AMPLIFIER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If the system does not operate normally, replace the ECM. See ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
