Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Check the transponder key coil See TRANSPONDER KEY COIL  under COMPONENT TESTS. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the transponder key coil. See TRANSPONDER KEY COIL & AMPLIFIER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Check the harness and connector between the transponder key amplifier and ECM. See ANTI-THEFT under SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, repair or replace the harness and connector.
  3. Check if the immobilizer system operates normally after replacement of the transponder key amplifier. If the system operates normally, replace the transponder key amplifier. See TRANSPONDER KEY COIL & AMPLIFIER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If the system does not operate normally, replace the ECM. See ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
