Using Hand-Held Tester (Except Prius)

- Turn ignition switch OFF, depress brake pedal more than 40 times. When pressure in power supply system is released, reaction force becomes heavy and stroke becomes shorter. Turn ignition switch ON, check that pump stops after about. 30 to 40 seconds.
- With the ignition switch remained ON, depress the brake pedal more than 20 times. For brakeline bleeding, see BRAKE LINES . Turn ignition switch OFF and connect hand-held tester to DLC3. Turn ignition switch ON and select AIR BLEEDING on hand-held tester.
- To bleed right front brake line, select FR LINE on tester. With FR LINE turned ON with hand-held tester, depress brake pedal and hold it to bleed right front brake caliper. Repeat until there are no more air bubbles in fluid.
- To bleed left front brake line, select FL LINE on tester and turn ON. Keep brake pedal depressed to bleed left front brake caliper.
- To bleed rear brake line, select RR LINE on tester and turn tester ON. Keep brake pedal depressed, while air bleeds from left and right calipers. Disconnect tester from DLC3 and clear DTC. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK/TRACTION CONTROL article.
