Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Toyota Tundra, 2002 Toyota Tundra, and 2001 Toyota Tundra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Depress brake pedal and ensure stoplights illuminate. If stoplights illuminate, go to next step. If stoplights do not illuminate, check stoplight switch adjustment. If stoplight switch adjustment is okay, locate and repair fault in stoplight circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  2. Remove ABS ECU. Measure voltage between terminal STP of ABS ECU wiring harness side connector and body ground when brake pedal is depressed. If voltage is 8-14 volts, replace ABS ECU. If voltage is not 8-14 volts, check for open circuit in wiring harness between stoplight switch and ABS ECU. Repair as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
