Wiper/Washer Switch: Removal

- Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position and ignition switch is off. Disconnect and shield negative battery cable.
- Remove both screw covers. Loosen steering wheel pad Torx screws until groove along screw circumference catches on screw case. See Fig 1.
- Pull steering wheel pad away from steering wheel and disconnect air bag connector. Remove steering wheel pad assembly. Place steering wheel pad assembly on a flat surface with pad cover facing upward. If assembly is stored face down, accidental air bag deployment could propel assembly and cause serious bodily injury.
- Disconnect electrical harness connector. Remove steering wheel nut. Place match marks on steering wheel and mainshaft for installation reference. Using steering wheel puller, remove steering wheel.
- Remove 2 screws and disconnect hood lock release lever. Remove 2 lower No. 1 instrument panel sub-assembly screws. Disconnect electrical harness connectors and remove lower No. 1 instrument panel sub-assembly. See Figure and Figure .
- Disconnect electrical harness connectors, remove 4 retaining bolts and remove lower left-hand instrument panel insert sub-assembly. Remove clip and remove No. 2 heater-to-register duct.
- Remove No. 2 column lower cover. Remove 3 screws and remove upper and lower column covers. Disconnect electrical harness connectors at combination switch assembly. Disconnect air bag electrical harness connector. Remove 3 screws and combination switch assembly with spiral cable attached.
- Remove screws and separate spiral cable from combination switch assembly. Remove screws and separate wiper/washer switch from combination switch assembly. See Fig 2.
