Rear Sensor Removal & Installation

- Remove rear wheel. Disconnect speed sensor connector. Remove speed sensor with rear axle hub. See appropriate REAR SUSPENSION article.
- Using a pin punch and hammer, drive out 2 pins and remove the 2 attachments from special tool (09520-00031). Mount the axle hub assembly in a soft jaw vise. Using the special tool (09520-00031, 09520-00040 or 09521-00020) and bolts (Diameter: 12 mm, Pitch: 1.5 mm), remove the ABS speed sensor. See Fig 1. If necessary, replace speed sensor wiring harness. Remove seat cushion, seatback and quarter trim. Disconnect speed sensor wiring harness connector. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts holding the sensor wiring harness from the lower arm body.
- To install, clean contacting surface of the axle hub and a NEW speed sensor. Place the ABS speed sensor on the axle hub so that the connector is set at the bottom under the on-vehicle condition. See Fig 2.
Using the special tool (09214-76011) and a press, install a NEW ABS speed sensor to the axle hub. See Fig 3. Torque all mounting hardware to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
