Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus RX 300 and 2002 Lexus RX 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    NOTE: If the control plate is in the fully opened or fully closed positions, resistance can not be measured.
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the cruise control actuator motor connector. Measure the resistance between terminals No. 1 (MO) and 2 (MC) of the actuator motor. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . If resistance is more than 4.2 ohms, go to the next step. If the resistance is not more than 4.2 ohms, replace the cruise control actuator.
  2. Check for an open and short in the wiring harness and connectors between the cruise control ECU and actuator motor. If the results are OK, check and replace the cruise control ECU. See CRUISE CONTROL ECU  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If the results are not OK, repair or replace the wiring harness or connector.
