Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus RX 300 and 2002 Lexus RX 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check noise. See Fig 1. Insert an already registered master key in the key cylinder. Using an oscilloscope or hand-held tester, check that noise is included in terminal No. E6-28 (CODE) of the ECM. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . If no noise is detected, go to the next step. If noise is detected, try and find the cause of the noise and remove it.
  2. If the system operates normally after replacement of the transponder key amplifier, replace the transponder key amplifier. If the system does not operate normally, replace the ECM. See ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
