Testing Motor PTC Thermistor Operation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Disconnect power seat motor to be tested. Using jumper wires, connect positive battery voltage to power seat motor terminal No. 1. Connect ammeter positive lead to power seat motor terminal No. 2 and ammeter negative lead to negative battery voltage. See Fig 1. As motor turns with voltage supplied, monitor ammeter to ensure voltage changes to less than one ampere within 4-90 seconds.
- Disconnect all jumper wires and wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, reverse polarity of battery voltage applied to motor and ensure motor turns in opposite direction. If power seat motor does not operate as described, replace power seat motor.
