Manual A/C-Heater System

- Disconnect heater control panel 18-pin electrical harness connector H9 and 8-pin electrical harness connector H10. Using jumper wires, connect battery positive voltage to heater control panel 18-pin connector H9 terminals No. 4 and 10. See Fig 1.
- Connect another jumper wire between battery negative voltage and heater control panel 18-pin connector H9 terminal No. 8. See Fig 1. Turn rear window defogger switch on. Rear window defogger indicator light should illuminate. If operation is as specified, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, replace defogger switch circuit board.
- With jumpers still connected as outlined in previous steps, turn rear window defogger switch on. Connect another jumper wire between battery positive voltage and heater control panel 18-pin connector H9 terminal No. 1 and monitor defogger indicator light. See Fig 2. Indicator light should dim when battery positive voltage is applied to terminal No. 1. If indicator light operates as specified, go to next step. If indicator light does not operate as specified, replace defogger switch circuit board.
- Remove all jumper wires from heater control panel 18-pin connector H9 terminals. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity across heater control panel 18-pin connector H9 terminals No. 4 and 8. With rear window defogger switch on, continuity should exist. With rear window defogger switch off, continuity should not exist. If operation is not as specified, replace defogger switch circuit board.
