Removal & Installation: Headlining: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus RX 300 and 2002 Lexus RX 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Using a screwdriver, remove the front part of the deck board assembly. See Fig 1. Remove the 2 bolts and deck board assembly.
  2. Remove the No. 2 deck board, No. 3 deck board, luggage compartment try and spare wheel cover tray.
  3. Remove the LH and RH deck side trim boxes by removing the nut and 4 clips on each side. Remove the tonneau cover.
  4. Remove the rear seats. Using a screwdriver, remove the front part of the deck board assembly. On LH rear seat, remove 3 clips. See Fig 2. On RH rear seat, remove 4 clips. See Fig 3. Using a screwdriver, remove the seat track covers. Remove the 4 bolts. Remove the LH rear seat, then the RH rear seat.
  5. Using a screwdriver, remove the instrument side panels.
  6. Remove the front door opening trims.
  7. Insert a screwdriver between the body and front pillar garnishes to pry the garnishes.
  8. Insert a screwdriver between the rear door inside scuff plate and body to pry the scuff plate.
  9. Remove the rear door opening trims.
  10. Remove the center pillar lower garnishes. Remove the front seat outer belt floor anchor. Insert a screwdriver between the center pillar lower garnish and body to pry the garnish.
  11. Remove the center pillar upper garnishes. Remove the front seat outer belt shoulder anchor. Insert a screwdriver between the center pillar upper garnish to pry the garnish, then pull the garnish upward.
  12. Remove the rear interior light. See Fig 4. Using a screwdriver, remove the lens. Remove the 4 screws and rear interior light, then disconnect the connector.
  13. Insert a screwdriver between the roof headlining rear trim and body to pry the trim.
  14. Remove the rear floor finish plate. See Fig 1. Remove the 4 clips. Insert a screwdriver between the rear floor finish plate and body to pry the finish plate.
  15. Remove the rear floor finish side plates. Remove the bolt and floor hook. Remove the clip. Insert a screwdriver between the rear floor finish side plate and body to pry the side plate.
  16. Insert the screwdriver between the deck side trim and the deck trim side panel to pry the deck side trim covers.
  17. Remove the rear seat side garnishes. Remove the 3 clips. Insert a screwdriver between the rear seat side garnish and body to pry the garnish.
  18. Remove the accessory socket. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw on the accessory socket cover from the hole in the accessory socket, then pull out the accessory socket approximately 10 mm (0.39 in.). See Fig 5. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw on the accessory socket cover from the body and remove the accessory socket and cover as a unit. See Fig 6. Disconnect the connector. Disassemble the accessory socket from the socket cover.
  19. Remove the LH deck trim side panel. Remove the bolt and floor hook. Remove the 5 clips. Insert a screwdriver between the deck side panel and body to pry the deck trim side panel.
  20. Remove the RH deck trim side panel. Remove the luggage compartment No. 1 cover. Remove the bolt and floor hook. Remove the 5 clips. Insert a screwdriver between the deck side panel and body to pry the deck trim side panel.
  21. Remove the rear seat outer belt floor anchor. Remove the 2 screws and deck side bar. Remove the 2 clips. Insert a screwdriver between the roof side inner garnish and body to pry the garnish. Remove the roof side inner garnish.
  22. Remove the front personal light assembly. See Fig 4. Using a screwdriver, remove the lens. Open the glasses box. Remove the 5 clips. Remove the 3 screws and front personal light assembly. Disconnect the connector. Using a screwdriver, remove the mirror cover. On vehicles with electro chromic inner rear view mirror, disconnect the inner rear view mirror connector.
  23. Remove the sun visors. Using a screwdriver, remove the cover. Remove the 2 screws and pull the sun visor downward. Disconnect the connector.
  24. Remove the sun visor holders by removing the 2 screws and 2 holders. Remove the assist grips by removing the 8 screws and 4 grips.
  25. Remove the front interior light. Using a screwdriver, remove the lens. Remove the 4 screws and front interior light. Disconnect the connector.
  26. Remove the roof headlining. Remove the 2 clips. Pull the roof headlining downward to remove it.
