Diagnostic Procedure

NOTE:
If not using the hand-held tester, begin with step 2.
- Check the moon roof control switch operation. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3. See Fig 1. Enter into DATA LIST function of the hand-held tester. Check that switch status (ON/OFF) changes on the screen of the hand-held tester as the moon roof control switch of the vehicle is turned. If the motor operates normally, go to the next step. If the motor does not operate normally, replace the moon roof gear assembly. See MOON ROOF under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Check the moon roof control switch. Remove the moon roof control switch. Check the continuity between terminals when the switch is operated. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . See INSPECTING MOON ROOF CONTROL SWITCH CONTINUITY table. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the moon roof control switch.INSPECTING MOON ROOF CONTROL SWITCH CONTINUITY
Switch Position Tester Connection Specified Condition SLIDE OPEN 4 - 8 Continuity SLIDE OFF ..... No Continuity SLIDE CLOSE 4 - 6 Continuity TILT DOWN 4 - 8 Continuity TILT OFF ..... No Continuity TILT UP 4 - 6 Continuity - Check for an open and short in the harness and connectors between the moon roof gear assembly and moon roof control switch. If the results are OK, check the moon roof limit switch circuit. See MOON ROOF LIMIT SWITCH CIRCUIT . If the results are not good, repair and replace the harness or connector.
