Front Seat: Disassembly

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus RX 300 and 2002 Lexus RX 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the headrest. See Figure.
  2. Remove the front seat cushion shield. Remove the power seat switch knobs. Remove the 4 screws and the front seat cushion shield, then disconnect the connector.
  3. Remove the front seat inner cushion cover by removing the 3 screws.
  4. Remove the No. 1 front seat cushion shield by removing the 2 screws.
  5. Remove the seat cushion assembly by disconnecting the wiring harness and removing the 4 bolts.
  6. Remove the seat cushion cover. Remove the hog rings. Disengage the seat cushion cover hook. Remove the seat cushion cover with pad. Remove the hog rings and seat cushion cover from the pad.
  7. On vehicles with seat heater, replace the seat cushion heater. See SEAT HEATER .
    8. CAUTION: Be careful not to pull the side air bag assembly wiring harness.
  8. Remove the seatback assembly. Remove the seatback board. See Fig 1. Remove the hog rings. Remove the 4 seatback assembly set bolts. Remove the 6 screws and seat cushion inside covers, then disconnect the wiring harness from the covers. See Fig 2. Disengage the wiring harness clamps. Remove the seatback assembly.
  9. Remove the seatback cover. Remove the hog rings. Remove the 2 screws and disengage the seat cover hook and retainer from the seatback frame. See Fig 3. Remove the headrest supports. Remove the cap, bolt, washer, wave washer and armrest. Remove the seatback frame from the seatback cover with pad. On the driver seat, remove the 2 bolts and lumbar support assembly from the seatback frame. On driver seat, remove the hog rings and seatback cover from the seatback pad.
  10. On vehicles with seat heater, replace the seatback heater. See SEAT HEATER .
  11. Remove the inner seat belt by removing the bolt.
  12. Remove the power seat switch by removing the 2 screws. See Fig 4.
  13. Remove the wiring harness by disconnecting the connectors.
  14. On driver seat, remove the seat position control relay by removing the 2 nuts.
  15. On driver seat, remove the torsion bar using a screwdriver. See Fig 5.
  16. Remove the seat track covers and belt anchor bracket. Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 seat track covers. Remove the 2 nuts and belt anchor bracket.
  17. Remove the reclining seat adjuster assembly with No. 2 vertical seat link sub-assembly. On the driver seat, remove the 4 bolts and reclining seat adjuster assembly with No. 2 vertical seat link sub-assembly using a Torx socket wrench. On passenger seat, remove the 4 bolts and reclining seat adjuster assembly. Remove the 2 screws and reclining.
  18. On driver seat, remove the No. 2 vertical seat link sub-assembly and front vertical motor. Using a Torx socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts. Remove the 2 nuts and No. 2 vertical seat link sub-assembly. Remove the 2 screws and front vertical motor.
  19. On driver seat, remove the vertical seat link sub-assembly and rear vertical motor. Remove the bolt. Remove the 5 nuts, plate and vertical seat link sub-assembly. Remove the 2 screws and rear vertical motor.
  20. Remove the slide motor. Remove the 2 screws. Disconnect the seat adjuster drive cable, then remove the slide motor.
