Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus RX 300 and 2002 Lexus RX 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If not using the hand-held tester, begin with step  2.
  1. Perform active test. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3. See Figure. Turn the ignition switch ON and the hand-held tester main switch ON. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the hand-held tester. Check that the power seat motor operates as the hand-held tester directs. If the seat operates normally, inspect the power seat switch circuit. See POWER SEAT CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUIT . If the seat does not operate normally, go to the next step.
  2. Check the power seat motor. See POWER SEAT MOTOR (SLIDE, FRONT VERTICAL, LIFTER & RECLINING)  under COMPONENT TESTS. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not OK, replace the motor. See FRONT SEAT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Check the wiring harness and connector between the power seat position ECU and motor. If the results are OK, inspect the power seat switch circuit. See POWER SEAT CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUIT . If the results are not OK, repair or replace the wiring harness or connector.
