Test No. 33: Security Indicator Light Does Not Light Up

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: The security indicator light can be activated by either the theft deterrent system or the engine immobilizer system. Ensure both systems are operating properly. See ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - AVALON and ENGINE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEMS - AVALON articles under DOOR LOCKS & ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. The theft deterrent system is part of the multiplex communication system. Ensure multiplex communication system is operating properly. See MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS - AVALON article under COMMUNICATION DEVICES in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If the multiplex communication system is functioning properly and no diagnostic trouble codes are stored, the body control system must be interrogated next. The body control system is the responsible unit for the operation of the theft deterrent system on the multiplex communication network. See BODY CONTROL SYSTEMS - AVALON article under COMMUNICATION DEVICES in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
