Disassembly & Reassembly

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus RX 300 and 2002 Lexus RX 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use when using to remove parts other then screws, bolts and nuts.
  1. Remove the glove box light assembly. See Fig 1.
  2. Remove the center bracket sub-assembly by removing the 3 screws.
  3. Using a screwdriver, remove the No. 1 and No. 2 side defroster nozzles.
  4. Using a screwdriver, remove the defroster nozzle garnish.
  5. Remove the defroster nozzle assembly by removing the 5 screws.
  6. Remove the No. 5 side defroster nozzle duct by removing the 2 screws.
  7. Remove the No. 1 side defroster nozzle duct by removing the screws.
  8. Remove the No. 2 side defroster nozzle duct by removing the screws.
  9. Remove the heater to resistor No. 1 duct by removing the 2 screws.
  10. Remove the heater to resistor No. 4 duct by removing the 2 screws.
  11. Remove the No. 1 register by removing the 2 screws.
  12. Remove the No. 4 register by removing the 2 screws.
  13. Remove the heater to register center sub duct by removing the 4 screws.
  14. Remove the wiring harness by removing the 5 screws and disengaging the clamps.
  15. Remove the No. 1 mounting bracket by removing the 2 screws.
  16. Remove the automatic light control sensor and solar sensor.
  17. For reassembly, reverse the disassembly procedure.
