WARNING: Vehicle is equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in TOYOTA - AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
NOTE: Trunk is also referred to as luggage compartment in Toyota service information.

Luggage compartment (trunk) door opener system allows for manual or automatic opening of luggage compartment door. Luggage compartment door can be opened using key in lock cylinder, with luggage compartment main (trunk opener) switch located on left side of dash, or with manual release lever located below left front side of driver seat. As a security option, manual luggage compartment door release lever can be deactivated by pulling up on the release lever, closing and locking the armrest door using the master key, and finally, closing the luggage compartment door, inserting the key and rotating it counterclockwise. Additionally, luggage compartment main switch (trunk release button) on the left side of the instrument panel can be deactivated using the luggage compartment cancel switch located in the glove compartment.
