Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus RX 300 and 2002 Lexus RX 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check the wiring harness. Disconnect the connector of the tuner and body ECU. See Fig 1. Check the continuity between the wiring harness and body ground. If there is no continuity, go to the next step. If there is continuity, repair or replace the wiring harness.
  2. Check the body ECU. Connect the connector of the body ECU. Check the DTC. If DTC B1242/42 is not output, replace the tuner. If DTC B1242/42 is output, replace the body ECU.
