Camry, Camry Solara & Highlander

  1. Disconnect crankshaft position sensor electrical connector at crankshaft position sensor. Crankshaft position sensor is located on front of timing chain cover. See Figure.
  2. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between electrical terminals on crankshaft position sensor electrical connector. Ensure crankshaft position sensor resistance is within specification. See CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. Replace crankshaft position sensor if resistance is not within specification. See CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR under IGNITION SYSTEMS in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - 4-CYLINDER article. Reinstall crankshaft position sensor electrical connector.
