Moon Roof Function

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus ES 300 and 2002 Lexus ES 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check the automatic sliding open operation. Turn the ignition switch ON. Slide and tilt down the roof glass to the fully closed position. Check that the roof glass will slide open automatically to the fully open position by pressing the moon roof switch OPEN for 0.3 seconds or more.
  2. Check the automatic sliding close operation. Turn the ignition switch ON. Check that the roof glass will slide to the fully closed position automatically by pressing the moon roof switch CLOSE for 0.3 seconds or more. The roof glass will stop sliding if the moon roof switch is turned to CLOSE while the glass is moving.
  3. Check the automatic tilting UP operation. Turn the ignition ON. Slide and tilt down the roof glass to the fully closed position. Check that the roof glass will tilt up automatically to the fully up position by pressing the moon roof switch UP for 0.3 seconds or more.
  4. Check the automatic tilting DOWN operation. Turn the ignition ON. Check that the roof glass will tilt down automatically to the fully closed position by pressing the moon roof switch DOWN for 0.3 seconds or more when the roof glass is up.
  5. Check the operation of the function after key-OFF. After turning the ignition switch from ON to OFF, check that the roof glass can be operated via the moon roof switch, however the operation will be impossible after the driver's or passenger's door is opened. When approximately 45 seconds have passed after the ignition switch is turned from ON to OFF, check that the roof glass can not be operated via the moon roof switch. After turning the ignition switch from ON to OFF with the driver's or passenger's door open, check that the roof glass operation will be impossible.
  6. Check the wireless operation. Close all the doors and pull out the key from the ignition key cylinder. Check that the roof glass will tilt up or slide open by pressing and holding the UNLOCK switch of the transmitter for approximately 2.5 seconds or more but stop moving by releasing the switch.
  7. Check the operation function via the driver's door key (interlocked operation with key). Check that the roof glass will tilt up or slide open by holding the door lock cylinder on the UNLOCK side for approximately 2 seconds or more with the key but stop moving by turning the key back to the neutral position.
  8. WARNING: Never insert any part of your body, such as hand, in between. Pay thorough attention not to get caught in there. The roof might be deformed if something hard, such as a handle of a hammer, is inserted in between.
NOTE: The jam protection function will operate during the following AUTO operations: AUTO close or down and AUTO close or down after key-OFF.
  9. Check the jam protection function. Fully open or up the roof glass. Set a handle of a hammer around the fully closed position (wrap the handle well with a cloth or something before setting). When operating the roof glass to the fully closed position via the AUTO close or down, check that the glass movement will be reversed by detecting the handle and keep moving by about 200 mm open or up and stop then. The reverse movement when the glass is sliding will stop in 200 mm open or before the fully open position (in max. 20 seconds). The reverse movement when the glass is tilting down will stop in the fully up position or in 2 seconds.
