Removal & Installation (4Runner 4.0L)

  1. Drain cooling system.
  2. Remove "V" bank cover.
  3. Disconnect ventilation hose and remove air cleaner assembly.
  4. Disconnect passenger side electrical connector at camshaft position sensor. Remove bolt and camshaft position sensor. See Fig 1.
  5. Disconnect water by-pass hoses from underneath throttle body. See Fig 2.
  6. Disconnect driver side electrical connector at camshaft position sensor. Remove bolt and camshaft position sensor. See Fig 3.
  7. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolt/nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Fill cooling system.
