Removal (Camry - Jan. 2003 & Later Production)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 2003 Toyota Tundra, 2003 Toyota Tacoma, 2003 Toyota Sienna, 2003 Toyota Sequoia, and 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

NOTE: Following procedure is applicable to January 2003 and later production of Camry models.

There are 2 intake air control valves used, one on end of air intake chamber and one between throttle bodies and air intake chamber. Intake air control valve near throttle bodies is referred to as No. 1 intake air control valve. Intake air control valve on end of air intake chamber is referred to as No. 2 intake air control valve.
Drain cooling system.
Remove suspension upper brace. Suspension upper brace fits between strut towers and is bolted to top of each strut tower.
Remove "V" bank cover.
Remove air cleaner assembly. See THROTTLE BODY under FUEL SYSTEMS.
Remove throttle body assembly. See THROTTLE BODY under FUEL SYSTEMS.
Disconnect check valve hose, fuel vapor feed hose and vacuum hose from No. 1 intake air control valve. See Fig 1.
Remove bolts/nut and No. 1 intake air control valve. Remove gasket from air intake chamber.
To remove No. 2 intake air control valve, remove wire harness clamp and disconnect vacuum hose.
Remove bolts/nut and rotate lever to closed position to remove No. 2 intake air control valve. Remove gasket from air intake chamber. See Fig 2.
