Removal (Avalon, Highlander & Sienna)
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 2003 Toyota Tundra, 2003 Toyota Tacoma, 2003 Toyota Sienna, 2003 Toyota Sequoia, and 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- There are 2 intake air control valves used, one on end of air intake chamber and one between throttle bodies and air intake chamber. See Fig 1. Intake air control valve near throttle bodies is referred to as No. 1 intake air control valve. Intake air control valve on end of air intake chamber is referred to as No. 2 intake air control valve.
- To remove No. 1 intake air control valve near throttle bodies, remove throttle bodies with No. 1 intake air control valve from air intake chamber. See THROTTLE BODY under FUEL SYSTEMS.
- Remove bolts, throttle bodies, gaskets and "O" rings from No. 1 intake air control valve. An "O" ring is installed at bottom of No. 1 intake air control valve between No. 1 intake air control valve and each throttle body.
- To remove No. 2 intake air control valve on end of air intake chamber, disconnect vacuum hose at actuator on No. 2 intake air control valve.
- Remove data link connector No. 1 (if equipped), bracket (if equipped) and ground straps from No. 2 intake air control valve.
- Remove remaining nuts for No. 2 intake air control valve. Remove No. 2 intake air control valve by prying between air intake chamber and No. 2 intake air control valve. See Fig 2. Remove gasket.
