Removal (Prius)

  1. Manufacturer states throttle body and intake manifold must be removed for access to knock sensor. Knock sensor is located on side of cylinder block. See Figure.
  2. Ensure service plug is removed from service plug assembly. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS .
  3. Remove throttle body. See THROTTLE BODY  under FUEL SYSTEMS.
  4. Remove engine oil dipstick and tube with "O" ring if necessary for access to intake manifold.
  5. Remove bolts/nuts, intake manifold and gasket from cylinder head.
  6. Disconnect electrical connector at knock sensor. Using Oil Pressure Switch Socket (SST 09817-16011) or equivalent socket, remove knock sensor from cylinder block.
