Removal (Prius)

- Manufacturer states throttle body and intake manifold must be removed for access to knock sensor. Knock sensor is located on side of cylinder block. See Figure.
- Ensure service plug is removed from service plug assembly. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS .
- Remove throttle body. See THROTTLE BODY under FUEL SYSTEMS.
- Remove engine oil dipstick and tube with "O" ring if necessary for access to intake manifold.
- Remove bolts/nuts, intake manifold and gasket from cylinder head.
- Disconnect electrical connector at knock sensor. Using Oil Pressure Switch Socket (SST 09817-16011) or equivalent socket, remove knock sensor from cylinder block.
