Removal & Installation (Tacoma)

  1. Remove starter and fuel filter mounting bolts to access knock sensor. Knock sensor is located on side of cylinder block. See Fig 1.
  2. Disconnect electrical connector at knock sensor. Using Oil Pressure Switch Socket (SST 09817-16011) or equivalent socket, remove knock sensor from cylinder block.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten knock sensor, fuel filter mounting bolts and starter bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
