Throttle Position Sensor: V6: 4Runner

  1. Manufacturer does not list procedure for Throttle Position (TP) sensor adjustment. Only information available is for checking resistance of TP sensor. Disconnect electrical connector from TP sensor. Note electrical terminals on TP sensor. See Fig 7.
  2. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between terminals VC and E2 on TP sensor. See Fig 7. Replace throttle body if resistance is not 1200-3200 ohms at 68°F (20°C).

    (1) Apply vacuum to throttle opener before checking TP sensor.
