Fuel Pump Resistance & Operation (Camry)

- To test fuel pump resistance, using ohmmeter, check resistance between electrical terminals on fuel pump. See Fig 1. Replace fuel pump if resistance is not.20-3.00 ohms at 68°F (20°C).CAUTION: When testing fuel pump operation, DO NOT apply battery voltage to fuel pump for more than 10 seconds or fuel pump may be damaged. When testing fuel pump operation, keep fuel pump away from battery as far as possible. Always connect jumper wires to fuel pump and then to the battery when applying battery voltage to fuel pump.
- Apply battery voltage and ground to terminals for fuel pump. See Fig 1. DO NOT apply battery voltage to fuel pump for more than 10 seconds. Replace fuel pump and/or lead wire (if equipped) if fuel pump does not operate.
