EGR Gas Temperature Sensor: Tacoma

  1. EGR gas temperature sensor is located near EGR valve. Remove EGR gas temperature sensor. See EGR GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR under ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - 4-CYLINDER article.
  2. Place threaded end of EGR gas temperature sensor and thermometer in container of oil. Attach ohmmeter between electrical terminals on EGR gas temperature sensor.
  3. Heat oil and note resistance at specified temperature. See EGR GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. Replace EGR gas temperature sensor if resistance is not within specification. Reinstall EGR gas temperature sensor.
