Diagnosis & Repair

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Toyota Tundra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Using Toyota hand-held tester or scan tool, read FREEZE FRAME data. Freeze frame data records engine conditions when malfunction is detected.

To minimize time wasted diagnosing EVAP system leaks it is recommended to perform Confirmation Readiness Test first to check readiness status and DTC verification before performing repairs. See CONFIRMATION READINESS TEST .

For diagnosis and repair procedure with Toyota hand-held tester or Enhanced OBD II scan tool, see Fig 1-Fig 9 . For diagnosis and repair procedure with generic OBD II scan tool, see Fig 1 and Fig 10-Fig 15 .

For wiring diagram, see Fig 16. For system components views, see Fig 17, Fig 18, Fig 19, Fig 20, Fig 22 & Fig 23

For ECM location, see Figure. For ECM connector view, see Figure. To identify circuits referenced in testing, See ENGINE PERFORMANCE in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. For vacuum or EVAP hose routing, see VACUUM DIAGRAMS article. For testing of systems or components, see SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - V6 & V8 article. For removal and installation of components, see REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - V6 & V8 article.
