Diagnosis & Repair
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Toyota Camry. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
- If DTC P0011 or P0012 is displayed, check the VVT system circuit.
- Read freeze frame data using the hand-held tester or the OBD II scan tool, as freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When trouble shooting, it is useful for determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, the engine was warmed up or not, the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, etc. at the time of the malfunction.
For wiring diagram, see Fig 1. For diagnosis and repair with hand-held tester, see Fig 2 and Fig 3 . For diagnosis and repair with OBD II scan tool, see Fig 4 and Fig 5 . To identify circuits referenced in testing, see appropriate WIRING DIAGRAM under ENGINE PERFORMANCE in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS. For testing of systems or components, see BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - 4-CYLINDER article or SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - 4-CYLINDER article. For adjustments, see ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS - 4-CYLINDER article. To check ECM inputs and outputs, see PIN VOLTAGE CHARTS article.
