Diagnosis & Repair

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus SC 430. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect camshaft position sensor connector. Measure resistance between terminals No. 1 and 2 of camshaft position sensor. At 14-122°F (-10-50°C), resistance should be 835-1400 ohms. At 122-212°F (50-100°C), resistance should be 1060-1645 ohms. See Fig 1. If okay, go to next step. If not okay, replace camshaft position sensor.

  2. Disconnect C1 2-pin camshaft position sensor connector. See Fig 2. Disconnect ECM E2 connector. See Fig 3. Check continuity between wire harness side of connectors. See CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR/ECM CONTINUITY CHECK  table. If continuity is okay, go to next step. If continuity is not okay, repair or replace harness and connector as necessary.
