Description & Operation

WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy. If battery is dosconnected, power sliding door system may need to be initialized. See PROGRAMMING .

The power sliding door(s) can be operated by depressing the DOOR L (if equipped) and DOOR R switch(s) on the dashboard, by pushing POWER DOOR, D-POWER DOOR and P-POWER DOOR buttons on the wireless remote control transmitter or by the pushing either (left side or right side passenger) PWR DOOR switch located on the inside "C" pillar next to the power sliding door handle. The power sliding door(s) will also operate by pushing the power sliding door 4 inches in the open or closed direction, causing the power sliding door to automatically open or close completely. Operation of the power sliding door(s) can be disabled by depressing the PWR DOOR OFF switch located on the left side of the dashboard. An Orange light on the PWR DOOR OFF switch indicates that the switch is pushed out and power sliding door is operating.

Both power sliding doors (if equipped) will not operate if the PWR DOOR OFF switch is pushed in, power sliding door is locked or if the shift selector lever is moved out of Park. The left power sliding door will not open when the fuel filler door is open. If the power sliding door is not completely closed when the ignition key is in the ON position the PWR DOOR light on the left side of the instrument cluster will illuminate. If the power sliding door is closed by hand with the ignition key in the ON position, the PWR DOOR light may stay on. In this case, open and close the door again to put out the light. If the vehicle is shifted out of Park when the power sliding door is opened, a buzzer will sound and the PWR DOOR light will flash, warning that the door is not completely closed. If anything prevents the power sliding door from closing, the door will automatically reverse to the opposite direction.

The power sliding door system consists of 2 power sliding door Electronic Control Unit (ECUs), 2 power sliding door control units with motor assemblies, 2 latch switches on door jamb and manually operated control switches, Power Sliding Door fuse in Relay Block No. 7 in engine compartment, Power Fuse, Gauge Fuse, and Integration Relay in Junction Block No. 1 located behind driver side lower dash panel, and ECU-B Fuse located in junction block No. 2, in engine compartment.
