Fuel Sending Unit Resistance (Prius)
NOTE:
Fuel tank sending unit is not removable and is serviced by fuel tank replacement. Fuel tank capacity is 11.9 gallons (45L).
- Ensure fuel tank is full. Drain fuel tank completely and store in appropriate container. Disconnect fuel tank sending unit harness connector. Go to next step.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between fuel sending connector terminals No. 1 and 6. Fig 2. See FUEL SENDING UNIT RESISTANCE table. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace fuel tank.
- Divide stored fuel and add sufficient amount to half-fill tank. Check fuel sender unit resistance. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace fuel tank.
- Add sufficient fuel to fill tank. Check fuel sender unit resistance. If resistance is as specified, fuel sending unit is okay. If resistance is not as specified, replace fuel tank.
